

Costa Rica is a country located in Central America, between Nicaragua (North) and
Panama (South). To its west is the Pacific Ocean and while the Caribbean Sea is
on its east coast. Costa Rica divides into 7 territorial divisions called “provincias”
which are San José, Heredia, Alajuela, Cartago, Puntarenas, Guanacaste and Limón.
With its exotic animal life and lush, varied landscapes, you will be irresistibly
drawn to Costa Rica and its residents. Costa Rica’s population is approximately
3.8 million people. Its major industries are tourism, electronics, coffee, bananas,
sugar, food processing, textiles and clothing, construction materials, fertilizer,
plastic products, and software.
Costa Rica is characterized by an impressive scenic beauty, consolidated system
of protected areas, high educational levels, and efficient infrastructure and services.
The average annual temperatures range from 31.7°C (89°F) on the coast to 16.7°C
(62°F) inland.
Relating to the fact that the Costa Rican army was abolished on 1948, it is a peaceful
country with a democratic government and relatively strong social, political and
economic stability. Costa Rica’s main religion is Roman Catholic. The Costa Rican
monetary unit is the “Colon” and the exchange rate from “Colones” to the US dollar
is regulated by the Central Bank. You can use US dollars just about everywhere so
there is no problem using or paying with US dollars.
